VIT-AP University holds 56th National Library Week

Amaravati: VIT-AP University hosted a programme on the occasion of 56th National Library Week celebration in the campus. Prof Padmini, a retired faculty member from the Department of Library and Information Science and former Principal of SV University College of Arts, Tirupati, was the chief guest at the event and she spoke about the importance of libraries and said that during the freedom struggle the libraries played a key role in motivating people towards striving for India's independence.

FICCI-Meta XROS fellowship concludes

new delhi: Leading industry association FICCI in association with Meta today successfully concluded its one-of-its-kind initiative the XR Open Source (XROS) Fellowship programme for Indian developers. The programme supported 100 developers working on XR technologies by enabling them to contribute to the open-source XR projects in collaboration with leading institutions and companies in XR who were project partners to the program. Over 65 per cent of the developers are from smaller cities and towns across India and about 20 percent of the selected fellows are women developers. The Fellows worked on open source metaverse projects across a number of use-cases including spatially powered smart wearable devices, 3D atlas of human anatomy helping the medical ecosystem understand the human anatomy in a 3D world, VR accessibility toolkit to aid accessibility for specially-abled individuals in immersive experiences, an Indic metaverse with heritage site tours and cultural experiences and viable web solutions for AR and VR to enable immersive experiences across a wide variety of hardware form factors.

Blue collar workforce struggles

new delhi: There is a big difference between the number of people looking for blue-collar jobs and the number of job openings. 67 per cent more people are actively looking for jobs, but there has only been a 61 per cent increase in available jobs, according to data by WorkIndia, India's leading tech-enabled blue-collar recruitment platform.   It is our mission to provide meaningful livelihoods to the blue-collar workers of India, and we will continue working towards the same, said Nilesh Dungarwal, co-founder and CEO of WorkIndia.
