Mass yoga events were organized in each district across Chhattisgarh to mark the 8th International Yoga Day, with a resolve to add yoga to the daily routine to lead a healthy life.
The events this year were held at places of religious and historical importance.
The Social Welfare Department organized the state level event at Mata Kaushlya temple premises at Chandrakhuri in Raipur district on the theme "Yoga for Humanity". More than 1,200 people participated.
Similarly, a district level mass yoga session was organized at the Dudhadhari Math premises in Raipur.
Chhattisgarh Real Estate Regulatory Authority Chairman Vivek Dhand and members of the Saicus Yoga group performed yoga poses in Raipur.
Similarly, an event was held at the Indoor Stadium in Bahtarai in Bilaspur.
The programme in Janjgir-Champa district was organized at Bhima Talab and at Jajvalya Dev Dwar in Janjgir. A mass event at Raigarh was held at the district stadium.
The event in Mahasamund district was organized at Sirpur, a historical place, where public representatives practiced yoga with school children and citizens. An event was held at Krishi Mandi premises in Rajnandgaon.
Yoga Day also took place in Kandel, the village of noted freedom fighter Babu Chhotelal Srivastava.
In Kanker district, a large number of people practiced yoga in the presence of Deputy Speaker of Chhattisgarh Assembly Manoj Mandavi.
