The police found the bodies of two people from Rishikesh barrage on Tuesday. The authorities are speculating that one of the bodies is probably of Kolkata resident Ankit Mukherjee who, according to the police, had gone missing a few days ago while rafting from Shivpuri to Rishikesh.
According to the police, some locals observed a dead body in the barrage on Tuesday and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was called to recover the body. However, when the SDRF team started the operation to recover the body, they found two dead bodies there.
The SDRF team in-charge sub inspector Kavindra Sajwan informed that it is being speculated that one of the bodies is probably of a Kolkata resident who went missing a few days ago while rafting from Shivpuri to Rishikesh as the deceased still had his helmet on his head which belongs to one of the rafting businesses. He said that the company has also identified the helmet as its own but the authorities are yet to confirm the identity of the deceased, said Sajwan. He also added that the second body is yet to be identified and police are investigating the matter.
