Power broker Vishal Choudhary, who is said to have links with politicians and bureaucrats, has sought two weeks from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to appear for questioning. Earlier, the probe agency had called Choudhary for questioning on November 28 after he was stopped by immigration officials at the Delhi airport on November 24. Sources said that Choudhary was on his way to Thailand when the ED stopped him at Delhi International Airport.
The Immigration officials caught him after the ED had issued a lookout notice anticipating Choudhary’s plan to leave India. Sources said that ED is yet to take a final call on Choudhary seeking two week time as he may be issued a second summons soon, failing which action will be taken against him.
During the investigation of the MGNREGA scam, raids were conducted at Choudhary’s Ranchi and Muzaffarpur locations. The raids were conducted at his locations in Damodarpur, Muzaffarpur.
Apart from this, raids were also conducted at his residence in Ranchi’s Ashok Nagar. Documents supporting his involvement were recovered from his possession. The ED had let him off after preliminary questioning in this regard. Along with this, instructions were given to come later on being called.
Earlier, Choudhary, was to reach the ED office on Monday, but he failed. According to the information received from the sources, no information was given to the ED on behalf of Choudhary.
Sources said that Choudhary is said to be the blue eyed boy of bureaucrats of Jharkhand. His reach can be gauged from the fact that his choice is taken care of in transfer-posting of officers, they added.
On May 24, the ED raided the hideout of Vishal Chaudhary, a resident of Ashok Nagar Road No. 6 of Argora police station area. During the raid, ED also found his iPhone and many important documents from the dustbin. It had details of senior officers of the state. Vishal Choudhary is originally from Muzaffarpur in Bihar. It won government tenders in Jharkhand by setting up several companies like Frontline Global in Ranchi. It is also working on many projects of Skill India.
Vishal's house located on Road No. 6 of Ashok Nagar area looks normal, but according to the people around, the nights used to be colourful here. Many bureaucrats of the state used to mark attendance here. Vishal was also said to be fond of traveling abroad and expensive vehicles. Vishal Chaudhary, fond of traveling abroad, had visited many countries including Turkey, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Indonesia, UAE in the last two years.
