After the RSS backed trade union Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh now the Congress backed trade union INTUC has decided to launch a stir to oppose the sale of 25 per cent share of BCCL.
Senior INTUC leader AK Jha in a statement here said that it's move to sell prime coking coal producing company to a private party by the Modi government .
The proposed sale would adversely affect the employment opportunities as well as wage and perks of miners that was given to them by nationalisation of the mines 51 years ago by then PM Indira Gandhi, said Jha .
Our union has been fighting for the miners and continues to do so thus a stir plan to oppose this move has been drowned . Talks with other central trade unions are on on this issue and soon a detailed stir would be announced, he said.
The union president JM Singh has sought time from BCCL management to discuss this issue and if the talks were not in favour of coal miners ,INTUC would call for an indefinite strike , said Jha .
It's worth mentioning that recently BMS has held a massive demonstration outside BCCL headquarters to express its opposition on this issue.
At same time Jha reminded that private players in coal mining and power generation in Jharkhand are not providing power to Jharkhand but to Bangladesh and other states of the country.
He requested from Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren to look into this issue too so that Jharkhand got it's due share of power from the two power company's . This would help ease power crisis in state, said Jha
