NIT R’kela to be CSAB-2022 headquarters

Saturday, 23 July 2022 | PNS | ROURKELA

The National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (NITR) has been entrusted with the task of conducting centralised seat allocation process for admission into various undergraduate programmes at 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and a few GFTIs (collectively called as the NIT+ System).

The centralised seat allocation for the NIT+ System will be conducted by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) along with the Joint Admission Board (JAB) for IITs. The seat allocation to NIT+ System will be based on the common rank list (CRL) of candidates in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main), whereas seat allocation to IITs will be based on the CRL in JEE (Advanced).

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) consisting of CSAB and JAB will jointly conduct six rounds of seat allocation through its website https://josaa.nic.in. The unfilled seats of the NIT+ System, if any, will be filled by additional CSAB-special rounds through website https://csab.nic.in.

Registration for JoSAA rounds of seat allocation will start on September 12, immediately after the declaration of JEE (Advanced) results. The CSAB-special rounds will begin on October 24 after the completion of JoSAA rounds. The whole counselling process is expected to be completed by November 9.

Besides, JEE (Main) rank, separate CSAB-Supernumerary rounds will also be conducted by CSAB for admission to supernumerary seats for Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli in selected NITs. Further, CSAB-NEUT rounds will be conducted by CSAB to allocate seats under the scheme of “Reservation of seats in Degree Level Technical Courses for States/UTs, lacking such facilities in the AICTE-approved institutions” to candidates of North-East States and Union Territories.

Approximately 2.5 lakh JEE (Main) qualified candidates are expected to register in the CSAB for admission to about 37,000 seats in NITs, IIEST, IIITs, SPAs, and GFTIs. The entire process of choice filling, seat allotment, and document verification will be conducted online.

Total 44 Help Centers and Document Verification Centers will be available to assist the students online and offline. The NIT Rourkela, as the headquarters of CSAB-2022, has planned a multi-lingual helpdesk and a multi-lingual FAQ to ease the seat allocation process for students. Besides, a dedicated helpline will be put up to assist persons with disabilities (PwD) aspirants.

This year, the eligibility requirement of 75 percent marks or 20 percentiles in 10+2 or equivalent examination has been waived off. Moreover, the Council of Architecture has also exempted the requirement of qualifying the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) for Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) admitting students based on Paper 2 of JEE (Main) through CSAB.
