National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairman Priyank Kanungo reached the State Capital on Sunday. Kanungo left for Barhi in Hazaribagh from Birsa Munda International Airport, where he will meet the family members of Rupesh Pandey, who was allegedly killed in a dispute between two groups during the Goddess Saraswati idol immersion on February first week .
Kanungo during his visit will also inquire about the incident as there have been reports that during the incident the police have detained several children in the case. He said, “If police have detained children in the incident then it is unlawful. It will be investigated. The commission will not allow the rights of any child to be violated at any cost. The matter would be investigated so that justice is provided to the family members.”
The chairman of the commission said that after meeting the family in this matter, he would also meet the investigating officers. After the death of Rupesh Pandey, there is a political heat in the entire state. Many leaders have met Rupesh's family members. Some have been stopped by the administration. Jharkhand BJP president Deepak Prakash and Delhi BJP leader Kapil Mishra were stopped from meeting Pandey’s family members due to prevailing law and order situation.
