Kolar police busted an interstate mobile thief gang and seized 41 stolen mobiles from the gang worth Rs 9 lakh, accused from West Bengal who used to buy stolen mobiles was also arrested by the police.
The Kolar police detained three persons on a bike who tried to mislead when questioned. The police took them to Kajali Kheda police outpost. The three were identified as Arvind Pawar (38), Chhotu alias Rangbahadur(24) and Mohammad Kaleem Shaikh (26).
Arvind Panwar confessed stealing a total of 12 mobiles and told that he was going to Itarsi to drop Mohammad Kaleem Shaikh along with Chhotu alias Rangbahadur. Similarly Chhotu alias Rangbahadur confessed stealing 16 mobile phones and Kaleem Sheikh told during interrogation that Chhotu alias Rangbahadur had come to Vidisha three or four days ago to sell stolen mobiles and sold 13 mobile phones.
Kaleem is a resident of West Bengal and would buy stolen mobile phones from Chotu and Arvind. The accused have a criminal record in the past, interrogation of the accused is going on.
Stolen 41 mobile phones were of Vivo, Samsung, Oppo,RealMe, Mi, Xiaomi, Infinix Companies and which along with the motorcycle seized were worth Rs 9 Lakh.
Chotu has been booked for over half a dozen crimes by Kolar police. Kaleem was booked under excise act by Kolar police.
The network of the gang used to dispose of stolen mobile phones would be investigated.
