The prestigious and spiritual Mahari Award 2022 shall be presented to well known Kathak dancer, researcher and choreographer of New Delhi, Aditi Mangal Das, during the 28th edition of Guru Pankaj Utsav to be held from March 15 to 17 at RabindraMandap here.
Das is a well known exponent of Kathak dance. She has been performing professionally in many prestigious venues in India and abroad over the past two decades and more. She has also established a dance institution known as Aditi Mangaldas Dance Company wherein she is imparting dance training to a number of students.
She learned Kathak under the guidance of KumudiniLakhia and Pt BirjuMaharaj and has won many awards and honors across the globe prominent among them are the SangeetNatakAkademi Award and Gujarat SangeetNatakAkademi Award, Gandhi Priyadarshini Award etc.
The Mahari award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a memento and a citation.
Besides Das, Kathak exponent GauriDiwakar from New Delhi, Kuchupudi exponent Rekha Satish from Bangalore and many Odissi dancers from different places will perform in the 3-day long festival.
On the inaugural day the 103 birth anniversary of Adi Guru Pankaj Charan Das will be celebrated in association with the State Department of Culture and GKCM Odissi Research Centre.
BibakarParida, Rabishankar Pradhan, DrSatchikantNayak, Guru PaiishaliMukiierjee of Kolkata will be felicitated on the occasion.
