International flights will start from Bhopal's Raja Bhoj Airport in two months. According to officials, immigration and customs clearance is expected in this period. With this, airlines will announce international flights.

On August 22, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had announced to make Bhopal's Raja Bhoj Airport an international airport. After this, the file for the basic resources, facilities and their approval required to make Bhopal airport international level is going on fast. This is the reason international flights are expected to start operating from Bhopal soon.

Officials of the Airport Authority of India say in muted voices that the file related to the permission of the Immigration and Customs Department of Bhopal Airport is stuck for the last four years. This file is running since 2019 but till now its permission has not been received.

The center has been informed about the existing infrastructure required for international flights. Since then the matter was continuously followed up. The file has gained momentum after Amit Shah's announcement and Bhopal visit. Now in the next two months, the process is expected to be completed and the clearance is expected. According to officials and experts, flights can start from Bhopal to Dubai, UAE and Bangkok.

Officials said that the airport will be able to get international status only after getting permission from the customs department along with immigration. Airport officials said that immigration and customs permissions are under process. There is every possibility that the airport management may get immigration and customs permissions next month. After this, airlines other than Air India will announce to start international flights from here.
