Gwalior Arm-wrestling team leaves for Hyderabad

Gwalior Arm-Wrestling Team left for Hyderabad on Monday, where they will take part in the National Arm Wrestling Competition. The competition is scheduled to be held at the Gachibowli Sports Complex Stadium in Hyderabad from 31st May to 6th June. More than 900 players from 25 states are expected to take part in the competition.

During the send-off function for the players, Gwalior Arm Wrestling Federation president, Keshav Pandey said that 37 players from Gwalior will take part in the competition. He added that these players had qualified for the national level competition during the state level competition held in Bhopal some time back.

Pandey further said that, looking at their past performances, 17 players from the contingent are expected to win medals. He added that the main players of the Gwalior team are world champion, Manish Kumar; Bharat Kesary, Sachin Goyal and world silver medalist, Arvind Rajak. He added that Captain Rajesh Soni will lead the team.

The winners of the national competition are expected to take part in the World Championship to be held in Turkey in October, this year.

Secretary of Gwalior Arm Wrestling Federation, Deepak Tomar; BJP leader, Ashish Rathore; social activist, Rajesh Mudugal and Sanjeev Sharma were among those who were present to see off the players.
