To make use of drone technology for better public utility services like delivery of life saving medicines, vaccines and other essential items to remote areas in a short time, a special workshop was organised at the Headquarters of Director General of Police on Thursday in the presence of ACS (Home), ACS (Industrial Development) and DGP among others.

An official communiqué released on Thursday confirmed that the officers exchanged views on how to make use of drones more practically and make them accessible in Uttar Pradesh for public utility services.  Apart from the police department, the use of drone technology will also be promoted in other departments of the state. 

The release claimed that in the workshop held on Thursday, representatives of about a dozen companies related to drone manufacturing, discussed the techniques being adopted in this direction, the various types of drones being manufactured by them, the process of use and operation, work. Detailed information was given on the points related to duration and other technical information.

Action was taken in the field of disaster management, success achieved by the use of night vision device in relation to liquor ban in Bihar, spray of insecticides in agricultural works, various types of surveys in collaboration with the Government of India, geo-mapping, progress made in the field, efforts to control crowd during fairs, intensive patrolling, urban planning, action taken in the area of ownership plan of Government of India, surveillance on highways etc in various areas of the country like police, defence, revenue, agriculture etc. Detailed information about the various activities carried out in it was also presented.

It is noteworthy that the training programme/manual is being prepared for regulation, manufacturing and manpower training of drones by the ‘Drone Task Force’ constituted under the chairmanship of ACS, Home.

An action plan/manual will be presented by this task force after discussing the difficulties faced in the direction of promoting the use of drone technology in different areas in Uttar Pradesh.
