Two candidates from Garhwa district--Namrata Chaubey and Vedant Shanker from Ranchi — have cracked the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam, the results for which were announced on Monday.
Namrata student from Bansal Institute, Kotta, Rajasthan, who hails from Hoor village in Garhwa district secured 73rd rank in UPSC. Namrata comes from a teacher family. Her father Vipin Kumar Chaubey is a teacher at middle school.
After completing IIT from Kanpur, she joined in a company at Mumbai, but she left the service and started trying to complete UPSC, said her father. She put in five years to prepare for this,” her father added.
While speaking Vedant Shanker who secured 511th rank, said “This was my fifth attempt and I dedicated a full year for the UPSC preparation only. After taking my initial lessons at the an IAS academy in New Delhi,” Vedant said.
A resident of Ranchi near Sindhu Kanhu Park, Vedant studied in Rachana Vidyalaya in Nashik and completed his HSC in DPS, Ranchi and studied engineering at IIT, Delhi. “My father, Dr. Kamlesh Kumar a well-known doctor posted as Civil Surgeon in Garhwa, grandfather Sheonath Ram, retired Deputy Commissioner (Income Tax), and mother Urmila Kumari have been my constant source of inspiration,” he said.
While from Deoghar, for the first time anyone from Panda community has achieved the feat of passing the civil services examination, Chiranjeev of Deoghar. Chiranjeev has secured 126th rank. While Manish Niranjan of Latehar has secured 246th rank. At the same time, Rakesh Ranjan Oraon of Lohardaga, working as an officer in an institute of Jharkhand government, has also achieved success in this examination.
The final results of the Civil Services Exam 2021 were announced by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Monday with women bagging the top three slots. Topping the rank list of 685 candidates is Shruti Sharma, followed by Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla in second and third positions.
The toppers are selected on the basis of three rounds – the preliminary exam, the mains exam, and the final interview round.
