Under this, the policy of Rabi 2021-22 will be distributed at the village-level to 7.33 lakh insured farmers of the state. With this policy, farmers will get complete information about the premium deducted for their crop and crop insurance, so that they will not have to face any problem during crop damage. Describing this programme as historic, he said that insurance companies will distribute this policy to the insured farmers. The event has been conceived by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The Agriculture Minister informed that this scheme is being implemented in the state from the year 2016. Under this crops like paddy, cotton, bajra, maize is being insured in Kharif crop and wheat, barley, mustard, gram and sunflower is being insured in Rabi crop. He informed that from the year 2016 to 2021, 75.12 lakh farmers got their crops insured, due to which farmers were paid Rs 4194.25 crore as claim against a premium of only Rs 1258.49 crore.

Dalal directed the Agriculture Department and Insurance Agency to give detailed information of this policy to the farmers. The main objective of the programme is to help the farmers to get the document of the policy as well as to minutely understand the details of that Scheme. He said that in case of crop loss due to natural calamity, the loss is compensated under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. For this, the farmer has to pay a nominal premium.

He said that under these programmes, farmers would be given their crop insurance policy at their doorstep. Along with this, complete information will be given to claim insurance compensation so that they do not face any kind of problem in getting compensation in future. The entire arrangement of these programmes from district-level to village-level will be done by the respective insurance companies.
