In what appears to be curtains on the controversy involving a lady doctor of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital and the wife of the officer of Indian Administrative Services (IAS), the doctor has joined duty in the GDMC hospital. The doctor rejoined the duty after IAS was shunted out of the health department in the recent reshuffle. The principal of the GDMC Dr Ashutosh Sayana confirmed that the doctor Nidhi Uniyal has joined her duty. Incidentally the high level inquiry ordered by the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on the incident is still pending.
The Assistant Professor Medicine GDMC, Dr Uniyal created a stir on March 31 when she resigned from her post alleging high handedness of the health secretary. In her resignation she said that on being asked to treat the ailing wife of the health secretary she visited his house along with two other staff members. She alleged that on being ill treated by the wife of the secretary she left their house and came back to the hospital. Later she was asked to tender an apology to the wife of the secretary but she refused. Immediately after this Dr Uniyal was transferred from GDMC, Dehradun to Soban Singh Jeena Medical College Almora after which she resigned.
Her resignation triggered a wave of anger in the social media platforms following which CM Dhami cancelled the transfer of the doctor and ordered an inquiry headed by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Manisha Panwar. In the recent bureaucratic reshuffle the state government shifted the health secretary Pankaj Pandey from the health department.
