The MLA from Pratapnagar Assembly constituency, Vikram Singh Negi met the managing director of the Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (PTCUL), PC Dhyani on Monday and demanded construction of a 220 KV substation in Ghansali. He told Dhyani that in view of its location in a hard to access area and presence of a large number of hydro power projects it was decided in the year 2013 that a 220 KV substation should be constructed in the Ghansali area. He said that the substation is yet to be constructed in Ghansali due to which the local people, hydro power and solar power project operators are facing problems. Negi said that the government is also facing loss due to absence of the 220 KV substation in the area.
He told the PTCUL MD that Ghansali has a 33 KV substation and this line Swati hydro power project, 30 MW Gunsola project and many solar power projects are connected. The MLA claimed that the 33 KV line is not able to sustain the power load forcing interruption in supply. He said that since the 220 KV Chamba – Ghuttu private line passes near Ghansali, there is no need to draw a new power line and only construction of a substation is needed in the area. Congress leader Mahesh Joshi also accompanied Negi during his meeting with the PTCUL MD.
