BJP team at Guv’s door demands appointment of Marandi as LoP

Monday, 28 February 2022 | PNS | Ranchi

A BJP delegation headed by party chief Deepak Prakash submitted a memorandum to Governor Ramesh Bais, demanding the appointment of party legislative party leader Babulal Marandi as leader of opposition. The party is upset with Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto decision not to accord LoP status to Marandi even after the passing of more than two years.

The party before submitting the memorandum  to the Governor held a meeting of BJP Legislature Party and MPs in the party office under the chairmanship of BJP State President and MP Deepak Prakash. Union Minister Arjun Munda, party organizational secretary Nagendra Nath Tripathi and other leaders also expressed their displeasure over delay in appointing Babulal as the Leader of Opposition.

Deepak Prakash later talking to the media said that the Speaker of the Jharkhand Assembly has killed democracy. Till now Babulal Marandi has not been made Leader of Opposition. The Speaker is not taking decisions at the behest of the state government. This government does not want to run the house by constitutional procedures, but like a dictator.

Deepak Prakash said that 26 months have passed since the formation of the new government in the State, but the proceedings of the house are being conducted without the Leader of the Opposition. The Bharatiya Janata Party has unanimously elected the first Chief Minister of the state and Rajdhanwar MLA Babulal Marandi as the leader of the party's legislature party. Its due information has been given to the Speaker of the Assembly. But it is unfortunate for the state that even after a lapse of more than two years, Babulal has not been given the status of Leader of Opposition by the Speaker of the Assembly. In the absence of a Leader of Opposition, important legislative work and constitutional appointments of the state are affected. The Governor has been requested to take necessary action in this regard.

In today's meeting and delegation, MPs PN Singh, Sudarshan Bhagat, Vidyutvaran Mahato, BD Ram, Sanjay Seth, Sunil Soren, Sameer Oraon, MLA CP Singh, Neelkanth Singh Munda, State General Secretary Aditya Sahu, Balmukund Sahai, MLA Viranchi Narayan, Anant Ojha , Kedar Hazra, Dr. Neera Yadav, Raj Sinha, Amar Bauri, Naveen Jaiswal, Koche Munda, Manish Jaiswal, Amit Mandal, Dhullu Mahto, Narayan Das, Alok Chaurasia, Samri Lal, JP Patel, Kishun Das, Aparna Sen Gupta, Shashibhushan Mehta , Pushpa Devi, Bhanu Pratap Shahi, Randhir Singh were also involved.
