After the announcement of the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2022 by Union Power Minister RK Singh to be placed and passed in Parliament on Monday, All India Power Engineers Federation sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealing him to intervene effectively in this matter. So that this bill is not passed in the Parliament in haste and this bill should be referred to the Standing Committee on Electricity Affairs of Parliament for detailed discussion with all the stakeholders including electricity consumers and electricity employees.
Shailendra Dubey, chairman of All India Power Engineers Federation, has written in a letter sent to the Prime Minister that the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2022 is signed by the Union Power Minister on August 2, which makes it clear that opinion from any state government or consumers have not been sought on this bill.
The draft bill, signed by the Union Power Minister on August 02, was released on Friday and will be tabled in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The Federation has appealed to the Prime Minister not to clear the bill in haste and refer it to the Standing Committee on Electricity Affairs of the Lok Sabha so that the views of all the stakeholders can be taken.
