AAP to hold 1,000 nukkad sabhas for MCD polls

From Thursday onward, the AAP will hold 1,000 Nukkad Sabhas till the date of MCD polls on December 4. The AAP on Wednesday held 60 jan samvad rallies across the national Capital. The party also said that they will run several ‘buzz’ campaigns like ‘Dance for Democracy’ teams to spread the AAP’s message to people through cultural events. The AAP will organise nukkad nataks, guitar shows and magic shows to showcase the advantage of having Arvind Kejriwal’s Government, his MLAs and his councillors in Delhi and the MCD too.

Earlier, interacting with people at the rally in Harkesh Nagar, Pul Prahladpur and Tughlakabad, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the people of Delhi would give a "befitting response" to the BJP, which had "failed" to perform its primary responsibility during its 15-year tenure in charge of the civic body. Sisodia said citizens of the national Capital were "fed up" with the civic body and would choose the party that worked for development this time. "Citizens have been saying that the BJP has been cheating the public for the last 15 years in the MCD. The people are also fed up with their garbage mismanagement. This time, the people will choose the party that works for development," he said.

Meanwhile, the AAP leader Durgesh Pathak enlists five problems faced by the employees of MCD including Safai karamcharis which made their lives miserable, during BJP reign. He vowed to end this trail of injustice and give due respect to these unsung heroes who toil to keep Delhi clean with ‘Kejriwal ki Sarkar, Kejriwal ka Paarshad' in MCD.

Pathak said, “The BJP has no remorse in betraying those who work for them. Their hard work is not at all respected, instead they are abused by BJP leaders. There is a backlog in disbursement of salaries of MCD employees by 5-6 months. CM Arvind Kejriwal will solve all the problems faced by Safai Karmacharis and give them the respect they deserve.”

“Another major problem that employees of the MCD face and this is a promise that the BJP has made in all of their previous manifestos is – to make the contractual employees permanent. There are over 25,000 safai karamcharis who receive their payment on a daily basis.”

“The third problem that these safai karamcharis face is the conditions in which they work. They often work inside drains that are extremely filthy with very little protective gear, they also pick the garbage of the entire city,” said Pathak.

“The fourth problem, and I believe that this is a problem that no developed society should face at this time, is the problem of manual scavenging. Even now, the safai karamcharis have to physically enter the sewage drains and clean it,” Pathak said.

The AAP on Wednesday kicked off the second phase of its campaigning for the MCD elections with music, magic shows and street plays.
