2 killed during illegal mining in Dhanbad

Friday, 04 March 2022 | PNS

Two persons were reportedly killed and another was injured when the roof of an illegally operated mine collapsed at Kapasara opencast mines of ECL under Nirsa police station on Thursday morning. One person has sustained fractures on his legs besides other parts of body and has been admitted to a private nursing home for treatment. One of the deceased has been identified as Vishal Bauri. The illegal mine operators removed the bodies of both the dead from the spot, but before they could remove the injured was photographed by media persons. Blood stains on rocks near by the mining location indicate that unabated illegal mining of coal is done in the area despite claims of authorities of ban on the practice. It’s worth mentioning that five persons had died in the same locality under similar conditions about a month ago. The district administration had claimed that all those who died were coal pickers and not illegal miners. It was claimed that all illegal openings have been capped in this locality.
