In a move to promote local art and products 'One Station One Product Scheme' announced in the Union Budget, the Agricultural Consultancy and Rural Development Institute launched the sale of local produce at Ranchi station under Ranchi Railway Division of South Eastern Railway (SER).
Under the scheme at Ranchi Railway Station exhibition cum sales centre opened of woven bags, bamboo products and woven artefacts. It is well known fact that Jharkhand is rich for its local made handicrafts and to promote it on better plarform, the Indian Railway started this programme so that people could get employment in these sector in large scale.This is the second temporary stall at Ranchi Railway Station under ‘One Station One Product Scheme’. Earlier, a temporary 15-day stall of Jharkhand Silk Textile and Handicraft Development Corporation Limited (JHARCRAFT) was conducted.
The stall was inaugurated by the tribal woman traveller, Poornima Toppo on Saturday, in the presence of the office bearers of the Board and representatives of the Agricultural Consultancy and Rural Development Institute. Product information was provided to the passengers by the stall operator –Fulmani Toppo.
This stall operated on platform number one of Ranchi Railway Station will exhibit and sell hand woven bags, bamboo products and woven artefacts from April 24 to May 08.
It is to be known that stalls are being set up at 1000 railway stations across the Country in a phased manner for the sale of area specific products, local artefacts, handicrafts, handlooms, etc. Under the 'One Station One Product Scheme', 15 stations of Ranchi Railway Division are to be selected where stalls to be open to promote local arts and artisans.
Through the stall, the passengers at the railway station will be able to get information about the particular product there and buy it easily. This will increase local employment and promotion of the product will also happen.
