Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa, who made a surprise visit at a Suwidha Kendra at Moga District Administrative Complex on Wednesday, said that these Kendras, operating across the State, are meant to provide hassle-free services to the people and not to create hassle for them.
“The purpose of my surprise visit is to get to know the problems of the people at the grass-root level...I had checked Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) yesterday, and Suwidha Kendra in Moga today,” he said, adding that after visiting here, “I have come to know that it takes a long time for people to avail services at Suwidha Kendras”.
Moga Deputy Commissioner Kulwant Singh and other officials informed the Minister that due to staff and other shortcomings, some services are getting delayed, which will be rectified soon.
Jimpa directed the in-charge of Suwidha Kendra to ensure that people visiting Suwidha Kendra should not face any kind of hassle. He also asked the senior officers to supervise the working of Suwidha Kendra to ensure the smooth functioning of these centres.
He also asked the officers to extend counters to provide services to the people within the stipulated time frame. He made it clear that corruption in government offices would not be tolerated at all.
“The dealing of officers and employees with the general public should be supportive and in a friendly manner. Sign boards should be put up at various places regarding the time limit for receiving services,” he added.
There should be separate queues for women and senior citizens, the Minister said, while assuring that closed Sewa Kendras would be reopened for the people’s convenience.
He said that the Deputy Commissioner has been asked to send the investigation report of the alleged fraud in the registries in the city of Moga by April 21. Decision on the matter will be taken based on this report, he added.

Man Utd ‘make life easier' for Liverpool: Salah
AP n Liverpool
Mohamed Salah conceded playing against Manchester United this season has been "easy" after scoring twice in a 4-0 thrashing of the Red Devils at Anfield on Tuesday which sent Liverpool top of the Premier League.
Salah also scored a hat-trick as Liverpool ran riot to win 5-0 at Old Trafford when the sides last met in October.
"They make our life easier in the midfield and in the back," said Salah. "They always try to give us the ball in a one-against-one situation so it makes our life much easier.
"When we defend, we had a clean sheet here and a clean sheet there."
Salah had not scored for Liverpool from open play since February, but clicked back into form with the space offered by United's disjointed defence to take his tally for the season to 30.
"I scored many goals for this club, it's going to keep coming," Salah added. "The most important thing is the team are winning."
