In an ugly turn in the already strained relationship between the Bengal Government and the Raj Bhavan, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that she has blocked Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on the Twitter because of his “unconstitutional” ways.
The Chief Minister’s action comes a day after the Governor told the media that Bengal had become a “gas chamber of democracy.”
“I apologise for it in advance. He (Jagdeep Dhankhar) tweets something everyday abusing me or my officers. Says unconstitutional, unethical things. He instructs, not advises. Treats an elected Government like bonded labour. That’s why I have blocked him from my Twitter account. I was getting irritated,” Mamata on Monday said.
Accusing the Raj Bhavan of running Pegasus (spyware) from its precincts, the Chief Minister said that she had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on several occasions (regarding the Governor’s ways) but nothing had happened.
“I have written at least four letters to the Prime Minister about him… That he is not listening and he is threatening everyone. I have evenspoken to him… he had been threatening the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police,” the Chief Minister said, alleging the Governor wasnot clearing files and unduly speaking about policy decisions of an elected Government.
“We have been patiently suffering for the past year. He has not cleared several files. He is keeping every file pending. How he can speak about policy decisions,” she said.
