Violence’s never-ending cycle

Despite numerous attempts to curb terrorism by eliminating the leader of terror organisations, they still thrive. Rajyogi Brahmakumar Nikunj Ji believes that only spirituality can ease the hold of evil on humans

In October 2019, almost every news channel and other media platforms were dominated by the news of the elimination of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the then-leader and self-proclaimed caliph of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a terrorist organisation, by US special forces in Operation Kayla Mueller. It was no doubt one of the most prominent news pieces, back then, and created a lot of waves in the world as the terror outfit’s activities came to light.

There are many lessons that one can learn from this event. Despite waging highly expensive war operations against terror outfits in the Middle East region, the hunt for the terror kingpin had proved elusive for the US forces. Yet karma or divine justice catches up with everyone and as per the law of karma, no offender can remain elusive forever. Because every offender or karmic offence leaves a trail that leads to the culprit being cornered. No matter however meticulous and elaborate measures they take to guard themselves and live in hiding, ultimately something happens and they get caught. History is witness to many such leaders who met an inglorious end. Hence, one must realise that security and safety cannot be bought by weapons and clever machinations.

The manner in which the US carried out the entire operation to eliminate the founder of one of the most dreaded terror organisations  is proof that no extent of fortification, scheming or support system can protect a person. Death can come most unexpectedly. Almost every terrorist leader justifies their cause but the means they employ are unrighteous and criminal. They vent their anger by killing innocent people and take delight in spreading terror and fright. But they forget that by doing so, their cause is not fulfilled. Another lesson that can be learnt from this episode is that evil men can be eliminated but evil does not end with them. The world, even now, fears retribution by his supporters who have vowed to avenge their leader’s killing. It creates a vicious circle of endless violence and hatred that is kept going by perpetrators and defenders. Thus we must all realise that violence can never end violence or evil. Violence begets more violence. Hence, to create a crime-free society we must understand the law of karma that is very clear and straight. We sow what we reap. Nobody can escape the law of karma. Whenever a person commits a wrong deed and even if he is not caught or punished by the law of the land, he will suffer by living in fear, guilt and restlessness. Just like most of the global terrorists and their group members have been living like a prisoner in their hideouts. The global terrorist who got killed, could not move around freely and had cut off all communication lines to avoid being traced but he was finally tracked down.

In the last few years, it has been observed and experienced that that evil can be vanquished only by spiritual power. Because violence is born in the minds of men and spiritual wisdom can help them understand their true inner self and further help to control and transform their violent tendencies. Spirituality gives us the clarity and power to realise, observe, choose and change our pre-conditioned thoughts, beliefs and responses towards people and situations. Remember, peace and love are the innate qualities of every human being and spirituality enables us to live life embedded with these core values even when faced with adverse or negative things. Thus, the answer to terrorism is not more violence. Spiritual empowerment is the key to transforming all evils.
