In a devastating crane accident caused by total negligence, three employees of the Gwalior Municipal Corporation died while one is critically injured. The accident occurred when the employees were putting up the national flag on top of the historical post office building situated in Bada. During the efforts to put up the national flag, a hydraulic crane collapsed killing three people on the spot and critically injuring another. The flag was being installed in connection with the preparation for the Independence Day. All the historical buildings situated in Maharaj Bada are decorated every year on the occasion of Independence Day.
While the authorities are claiming that there was some problem with the alignment of the crane, there are reports that the crane was being operated by inexperienced, novice people who have limited knowledge in operating a crane.
According to eye witnesses the front of the hydraulic crane on which the workers were climbing to the top of the building with the flag abruptly went upwards causing the accident.
