State suspends Yatra following HC order

Wednesday, 30 June 2021 | PNS | Dehradun

Following orders of the Uttarakhand High Court staying the State Cabinet’s decision to start Char Dham Yatra from July 1, the State Government has now kept the pilgrimage suspended till further orders. The HC had on Monday ordered a stay on the Cabinet’s decision to start the pilgrimage from July 1 for residents of the districts in which the Char Dham shrines are located.

However, in the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Covid-curfew extended till July 6 which were issued late on Monday evening, the State Government had stated that the Char Dham Yatra will be held from July 1 as planned earlier. On Tuesday, the Government issued revised SOPs in which it was stated that in view of the HC orders, the Char Dham Yatra will remain suspended till further orders.
