Punjab Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Jasbir Singh Garhi on Friday called on former Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) patron Parkash Singh Badal urging the veteran leader to guide the SAD-BSP alliance in framing a pro-people agenda for the forthcoming 2022 assembly election.
Garhi, who was accompanied by BSP general secretary Dr Nashattar Pal, met the former Chief Minister at his residence in Badal village.
“I have come to take the blessings of Parkash Singh Badal besides learning from his vast experience in public life,” said Garhi. Describing Badal as one of the tallest leaders of the country, the BSP leader said: “We are keen to take Badal’s feedback on the key issues to be taken up for resolution in the next SAD-BSP government.”
Garhi said that the former Chief Minister disclosed that health and education had deteriorated during Congress tenure and it was of utmost importance to give a push to both sectors in the next alliance government. The BSP leadership assured the former Chief Minister that the next alliance government in Punjab would follow the pro-people policies of the erstwhile SAD government.
BSP leaders said that they were also committed to peace and communal harmony, which had been the cornerstone of the Parkash Singh Badal led governments in the past. “We will ensure brotherhood amongst all sections of society at all costs”, they added.
