There are now speculations as to whether the hiked electricity tariff would be pegged down after Energy Minister Dibyashankar Mishra made a statement in the State Assembly that the Government would move the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) soon for a reconsideration of its recent decision for a tariff increase of 30 paise per unit.
The Minister’s statement followed continued pandemonium in the Assembly with Opposition BJP and Congress vociferously protesting the power rate revision at a time when people are reeling under the adverse economic impact due to Covid-19 pandemic.
