PM Modi’s announcements eyewash, mere rhetoric- Congress

Friday, 31 December 2021 | PNS | Dehradun

The Uttarakhand Congress has termed the announcements of projects worth more than Rs 17,000 crore made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Haldwani on Thursday as  mere rhetoric and eyewash. The head of the campaign committee of Uttarakhand Congress and former chief minister Harish Rawat said that the visit of PM Modi was nothing but political tourism and it gave no hope to the people of the state. He said that PM Modi not only disappointed the people of Uttarakhand but his speech was replete with electoral rhetoric. He said that more than 400 villages of the state are awaiting displacement but the PM did not bother to understand their pain even once during his visit. Rawat added that when the Congress was in power in the state it had sent a proposal for green bonus to the state from the Uttarakhand assembly but the Modi government has spared no thought for it. He said that the claims of improving the economy of the state and the promise of the double engine too has proved hollow and added that it would be better if the PM takes his double engine away from the state. Continuing his attack on the PM, the veteran Congress leader said that Modi has visited the state many times but the hands of people here remain empty. He said that in his visits Modi never remembers the disaster affected nor does he show any care for the migration and an army of unemployed here. Rawat said that the prices are continuing to increase due to the wrong policies of the state and the central governments. He added that the government has made no plan for the rehabilitation of the youth rendered unemployed during the pandemic period and the people associated with the tourism industry. Taking a dig at the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Harish Rawat said that he too is becoming an expert in making only announcements like PM Modi
