The Odisha Government’s Jaga Mission has been nominated for an international award by the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum. It has been nominated for the award for ‘Innovation in Public Policy’.

Citizens can vote online for the award till November 30 by clicking https://aphousingforum.org/innovation-awards-vote/.

In 2019, the Odisha Government had won the World Habitat Award for the Jaga Mission.

This award is given by the World Habitat, a UK-based organisation, in partnership with UN-Habitat every year in recognition of innovative, outstanding and revolutionary ideas, projects and programmes from across the world.

The Jaga Mission is acclaimed as the world’s largest slum land settlement programme benefiting a million urban poor living in the slums.

The mission is being executed in collaboration with the Tata Trusts and the Norman Foster Foundation. The State Government had rolled out the project on May 7, 2018, a first of its kind in the country, to give land titles to slum dwellers.

Odisha also won the Best State Award in the second edition of Janaagraha City Governance Awards for the Jaga Mission and for transforming urban slums into livable habitats.
