A Model Rural Health Research Unit (MRHRU) is to be set up in village Jheet in Chhattisgarh's Durg district.
A MoU was signed in this regard on Thursday between the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corp (CGMSC) and the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) at a virtual programme held at the official residence of Health Minister T.S. Singh Deo.
A press communiqué said the MRHRU will help in diagnosis of diseases, surveillance, research and training to medical staff.
The MoU was signed between CGMSC Managing Director Kartikeya Goyal and the Director of the National Tribal Health Research Institute (NTHRI), Dr Aproop Das, for ICMR.
The MRHRU will be established in 11,000 square feet with an investment of Rs 2 crores.
Singh Deo said till now samples of vector borne diseases were sent to Jabalpur and other places in different states for tests. From now on, the facility will be available in Chhattisgarh itself.
