Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday extended congratulations to Sumit Antil for winning the gold medal while setting a world record in javelin throw and Yogesh Kathuniya for winning the silver medal in discus throw F-56 at Tokyo Paralympics.
The Chief Minister said that Sumit Antil has won the hearts of the people of Haryana as well as the entire nation by winning a gold medal with a world record in javelin throw at Tokyo Paralympics. Saluting his spirit, the Chief Minister congratulated him on his historic performance.
He said that Yogesh Kathuniya, a resident of Bahadurgarh, who won a silver medal in Discus Throw F-56, has brought laurels not only to Haryana but also to the country.
The Chief Minister congratulated Yogesh, while wishing him a bright future.
Under the government’s sports policy, Sumit will get a cash reward of Rs 6 crore and Yogesh will get a cash reward of Rs 4 crore. Both will also get government jobs. Nineteen players from Haryana are participating in the Tokyo Paralympics.
Khattar said that earlier during the Tokyo Olympics, three individual medal winners and two players in India's men hockey team belonged to Haryana. Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra from the state had brought home a gold medal, wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya had won a silver medal and Bajrang Punia won bronze.
