Kendrapada Town police on Sunday arrested a sexagenarian person and his son for allegedly duping lakhs of rupees from several gullible persons on the pretext of providing interest- free loans under several schemes.
They were identified as Golekh Chandra Padhihary (65), a former employee of Kendrapada municipality and his son Rajdeep Padhihary, of Manakarpur.
According to Town PS IIC Jyoti Ranjan Samantaray, Swornalata Dalai ,52, the wife of Surath Kumar Nayak, a resident of Kathajodi Vihar under Markatnagar police limit had lodged an FIR at Kendrapada Town police station on August 9 alleging that Padhihary and his son allegedly lured her on the pretext of providing loans of Rs 3 lakh without any interest and later duped her of Rs 2.52 lakh. She alleged that Padhihary and his son allegedly were operating a racket and duped lakhs of rupees from the gullible persons on the pretext of providing loan.
Even, the complainant also alleged that Padhihary, too collected a sum of Rs 3 lakh from her nephew assuring to engage him in a job. But when he could not arrange a job, Padhiary threatened of dire consequences when asked to return money. Golekh and his son Rajdeep were produced before SDJM Court of Kendrapada under Section 341,294,419,420,506 and 34 IPC. They were remanded in jail custody after their bail petitions were rejected by court.
