Sunday, 14 March 2021 | PNS | Haridwar

A three-day international conference on integration of traditional medicinal system with modern science-relevance, challenges and future perspectives concluded at Patanjali Yogpeeth on Saturday. Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology (UCOST) director general Rajendra Dobhal stressed on the need for work to test traditional knowledge on the parameters of modern science.

He said that India’s ancient medicine science had further established its relevance in the present context.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vinay Kumar Katiyar from Patanjali University spoke on new scientific techniques to learn more about medicinal herbs.

Patanjali research institute vice chairman Anurag Varshney said that it is ironic that though Ayurved is the best medical system, it has not received medicinal status fully. Lack of major research work in Ayurveda and the activities of the drugs mafia are to blame for this, he said. Vedpriya Arya of Patanjali Herbal Research department spoke on the traditional medicine system of India. Various other experts also expressed their views on the occasion.
