Gobinda Tarai remembered on death anniv
Jagatsinghpur: Former Paradip Municipality Chairman, veteran BJD leader and fisherman community leader Gobinda Tarai of Paradip was remembered in his first death anniversary on Friday. A meeting was organised at Kujang being chaired by lawyer Bharat Bhusan Das. Former Minister Damodar Rout, MP Dr Rajashree Mallick, BJP leader and former MP Bibhuprasad Tarai, former MP Dr Kulamani Samal, BJD leader Basanta Biswal, Kujang Block Chairman Smruti Ranjan Behera, Gangadhar Jena and educationist Manoranjan Das joined as guests and recalled their association with Tarai. A souvenir was released. Besides, a statue of Tarai was unveiled at Paradipgada by local MLA Sambit Routray.
2 held for beating JagatSinghpur ABDO
Jagatsinghpur: The police have arrested two youths on Saturday inconnection with assaulting and extorting Balikuda Additional BlockDevelopment Officer [ABDO] Sanjaya Kumar Das. The arrestees wereidentified as Suresh Lenka, aresident of Tentulibelari village andCharan Swain of Jagannathpur village under Balikuda area. Reports saidthat both youths impersonating as local reporters of a web channeldemanded money from the ABDO, but the latter declined, the duoattacked the ABDO in Balikuda Bazar and delivered casteist remarksagainsthim on Friday evening. ABDO Das filed an FIR against them inBalikuda police station.
Retd Er K Nageswar Rao’s death mourned
Berhampur: People from cross sections of society here mourned the sudden demise of retired Executive Engineer Kota Nageswar Rao, who was under treatment for Covid complications at the AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Rao, father of diabetes and Thyroid specialist Dr Sunil Kota, passed away at the hospital on Saturday morning at the age of 72. Many members of Kota family were infected by Covid and almost all recovered, but Nageswra Rao succumbed to disease.
