Four traders booked under Copyright Act

Habibganj police booked four traders under Copyright Act who were involved in selling duplicate accessories of Apple Company at Rehmat market on Wednesday.

The action was taken after a complaint was lodged by company representative Vishal Singh Jadeja lodged complaint against traders at Rehmat market in Habibganj area and who deal selling duplicate accessories. Then, shops were raided shopkeepers were found with duplicate accessories.

The accused were selling duplicate accessories by using packing of company. The brand name was used to sell which was fraud and infringement of copy right.During the raid, police  found good stock of duplicate accessories. As soon as the raid was conducted shopkeepers started to shut their shops and four shopkeepers were found selling duplicate accessories.

On Wednesday, the complainant approached police and lodged a complaint regarding the shops at the area dealing in illegal manner which is violation of copyright act.

The shopkeepers who used to purchase goods from the accused would be investigated as the goods are sold to several shopkeepers, said police.

Police have registered a case under sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC and section 63 Copyright Act 1957. The details of procurement of duplicate accessories is yet to be revealed and would be investigated in the further investigation.
