Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Sunday said that four people from the state were still missing in the flash floods that followed the recent glacier mishap in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district.
Capt Amarinder, in a tweet, said that Punjab was willing to extend any help it could to help trace the missing people. “Four of our Punjabi workers Kewal Singh, Sukhwinder, Kulvir Singh and Sukhwinder Singh have been missing from Chamoli, Uttarakhand since the recent disaster. I seek CM @TSRawatBJP’s intervention in tracing them. We in Punjab are ready to help Uttarakhand in every way (sic),” the tweet read.
More than 170 people are still unaccounted for since Sunday, when a wall of water and debris barrelled furiously down the valley, leaving a trail of destruction and despair. Those missing come from all over the country, many of them workers at two of the many hydroelectric dams in Uttarakhand.
