Clearing the confusion over the reopening of primary schools from January 3 next, School and Mass Education Department Secretary Satyabrata Sahu has said the decision of the State Government to reopen the schools would remain unchanged.
Offline classes for students of Classes-I to V would resume from January 3. A meeting has been held in this regard with the District Education Officers (DEOs). They have been directed to ensure cleaning of school campus, classrooms, desks, benches, etc., before commencement of the classes, he said.
A discussion was also held regarding adherence to the Covid-19 protocol at the schools during the classes, he added.
As per the decision, the classes will be held from 9 am to 12 noon without break. The distribution of dry ration among students under the midday meal scheme will continue as before.
Notably, the confusion over reopening of primary schools had emerged as Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET) Rama Raman Mohanty on Wednesday said the decision might be revoked in view of the prevailing Omicron situation.
