Wednesday, 30 June 2021 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

In the view of the Covid-19 pandemic, East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) has waived off fees charged from weekly market and street vendors for the current financial year up to March 31, 2022.

Mayor of East Delhi Shyam Sunder Aggarwal said that this decision will benefit about 55,000 vendors who are already facing hardship due to the covid-19 pandemic. Aggarwal also said that the Corporation will extend further help to the street vendors in this difficult period of epidemic.

“The Corporation is providing financial help to street vendors. Under the PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) of the Union Government, a loan of Rs 10,000 has been provided by banks through Corporation to 5312 street vendors,” he said.
