Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia announced that direct flights between Delhi and Kushinagar would be launched from November 26.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Kushinagar International Airport, he said that SpiceJet would operate four flights a week between Delhi and Kushinagar and informed that 17 new airports would be built in UP in the future.
Governor Anandiben Patel, Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju, Union Tourism and Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Sripadyaso Naik, Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Civil Aviation, Gen VK Singh, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi, Uttar Pradesh’s Civil Aviation Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, Kushinagar MP Vijay Kumar Dubey and MLA Rajinikanth Mani also attended the event.
Built at a cost of Rs 260 crore, the Kushinagar international airport boasts of the longest runway with a length of 3,200 metres and width of 45 metres and can accommodate four big airplanes simultaneously.
