Reacting to the Gorakhpur incident in which policemen beat up a businessman leading to his death, the Communist Party of India (ML) said UP had become a police station and there was rule of police in UP.
“There is a law of police instead of democracy in Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi Adityanath government is responsible for this,” CPI9ML) state secretary Sudhakar Yadav said.
He said law and order had taken the back seat in the Yogi Adityanath government and the police were killing citizens instead of protecting them.
“This is the result of giving free hand to police by the BJP government,” he said.
Yadav said there was no parallel in infringement of the human rights and custodial deaths in UP. He termed the custodial deaths in UP as ‘government sponsored violence’.
