Booths to be removed from toll plazas: Centre

Tuesday, 01 June 2021 | PNS | Indore

The Union Government has decided that there will be no booth on any lane of the toll plaza and, by doing so, some additional toll lanes will be constructed at the space saved by eliminating these booths on the highways. In this way, now the vehicles shall move from newly constructed 10-12 lanes in place of currently available of 6 lanes only that will save near about 3-4 minutes of each vehicle passing through the toll plaza.

In first instance, the toll plazas situated on Indore-Betul-Nagpur highway will be constructed based on this modified design. This Project Highway is being operated by PATH India Company [Prakash Asphaltings & Toll Highways (India) Limited] and this new design has also been prepared by its Director Nipun Agrawal who is a Civil Engineer having MBA from SP Jain, Management Institute, Mumbai with a vast experience in operation of toll plazas for more than 10 years.

Agrawal has given a detailed presentation before the Chairman and Higher Officers of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), New Delhi. The NHAI officers have appreciated the contents of the presentation and accepted the new design proposed by him. Nipun Agrawal, during his presentation, has explained that, by removing the toll booths currently available at the toll plazas in 60 Meter length of toll lanes, sufficient space will be saved on which near about double toll lanes could be constructed so that the smooth movement of vehicles will be possible at each toll plazas of the highway.

As per decision taken by NHAI, PATH India will construct the toll plazas using this modified design in 30 Kms from Harda – Temagav section of Indore-Betul-Nagpur Project Highway. During presentation before NHAI.
