Arun Kumar, a PhD scholar from the Department of Physics, IIT Bhilai, has been selected for the Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF) under the lateral entry scheme for the December 2020 cycle.
He will work on a project titled “Mechanically Flexible Perovskite Solar Cells incorporating Metallic Foils” under the guidance of Dr. Dhriti S. Ghosh, Associate Head, Department of Physics.
Arun is working in Thin Film and Photovoltaics Lab and will be researching perovskite solar cells, which are an alternative to traditional silicon-based solar cells, states an official communication.
His proposed research focuses on the realization and fabrication of perovskite solar cells on thin metallic foils which will result in developing a low-cost, lightweight, and mechanically flexible alternate source of electricity.
Arun will receive a monthly stipend ranging from Rs 70,000-80,000 per month for up to five years under the PMRF scheme. He will also be eligible for Rs 200,000 research grant per year which can be utilized towards the procurement of research equipment.
