Amid rising cases, dists to follow Covid protocols

Amidst a spike in corona cases and threat of Omicron—new variant of corona —in the State, the Health Department has issued necessary directives to district administrations. Additional Chief Secretary (Health), Arun Kumar Singh has issued a letter with fresh guidelines to all Deputy Commissioners (DCs), directing them to ensure that all corona guidelines are followed strictly.

The Additional Chief Secretary has stated that it is upto respective district administrations to put a corona patient on home isolation or hospitalize him depending upon the seriousness of the case. The health department letter also mentions preparing a work plan with focus on test, track, isolate, treat and vaccinate.  The additional chief secretary's letter also states that if required the district administrations should carry out corona tests on large scale with door to door testing.

Rapid Antigen and RT-PCR of people should be strictly done at entry points of state with special attention at railway stations, bus stands, and airports. Setting up a war room and control room at district level too has to be made.The district administrations have been directed that people reaching the State from states which have Omicron or those reaching state from foreign countries, their daily report has to be prepared and such report has to be made available to the health department. The corona patient who has been put under home isolation should be provided with a health kit and their regular monitoring has to be made.The health department’s fresh directives have been made after the state witnessed a spike in corona cases in the past few days. On Wednesday, 344 cases of corona have been found in the State. Most of the infected cases are from Ranchi. 118 positive cases were found in Ranchi. At the same time, 56 infected people have been identified in Koderma, 43 in East Singhbhum, 31 in Dhanbad, 22 in West Singhbhum, 21 in Hazaribagh, 17 in Bokaro and 10 other districts. In Ranchi, infection has increased six times faster in 4 days. Ranchi's positivity rate was 0.95% on Tuesday, which increased to 2.54% on Wednesday.

Out of 118 fresh cases, 14 doctors and nurses too have been infected with the virus. With so many cases that came after 212 days, the possibility of a third wave has increased in the state. Till the last week of May, so many infected were found in state. Since then graph has dropped continuously.
