Jail and Home Minister Narottam Mishra has said that except the prisoners convicted in heinous crimes in the jails of the State, the 30 days’ sentence of the remaining inmates will be waived off. Mishra said this during the Shri Krishna Janmotsav programme at Central Jail, Bhopal. MP Pragya Singh Thakur and Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang were also present in the ceremony.
Jail and Home Minister Mishra encouraged the prisoners in a cultural programme organised in the meeting room of the Central Jail on Shri Krishna Janmashtami. Accepting the demand of local MP Thakur, he assured that the canteen would be started from today as per the material available in the Central Jail. Mishra said that arrangements would be made for fruits and vegetables for the prisoners observing fast on the day of Shri Krishna Janmashtami in the jails of the state. Special dishes will be arranged for the remaining prisoners.
A wonderful scene of the birth of Shri Krishna in the prison and the arrival of Lord Shri Krishna safely across the Yamuna in a basket with Shri Vasudev was presented by the inmates of the jail. Director General Jail Shri Arvind Kumar, Additional Director General of Police Ashok Kumar Awasthi, DIG Jail Sanjay Pandey and Shri MR Patel, Jail Superintendent Dinesh Nargave and other senior officers were present in the function.
