In a major relief to the State authorities, the daily Covid-19 deaths dropped to as low as 52 and infections came down to 3,741, even as 4,696 patients were discharged after full recovery from various hospitals across the State.
A day after Maharashtra logged 131 deaths and 4,666 infections, there was an improvement in the Covid-19 situation in the state, as the deaths dipped to 52 and infections came down to 3,741.
With 52 fresh deaths reported on Monday, the total number of deaths in the state increased from 1,37,157 to 1,37,209 to , while the total infections -- with 4,831 new cases – went up from 64,56,939 to 64,60,680.
As 4,696 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the state after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March last year increased from 62,63,416 to 62,68,112. The recovery rate in the state came down from 97 per cent to 97.02 per cent.
The total “active cases” in the state increased from 52,844 to 51,834. The fatality rate in the state stood static at 2.12 per cent.
Pune with 12,717 active cases emerged as the first in the state in terms of maximum number of “active cases” in the state, while Thane with 7156 cases stood second in the state, followed by Ahmednagar (5,961), Satara (5421), Sangli (4,356), Solapur (4,068) and Mumbai (3504).
Of the 5,38,12,827 samples sent to various laboratories across the state so far, 64,60,680 have tested positive (12.01 per cent) for COVID-19 until Monday. Currently, 2,88,489 people are in home quarantine while 2,299 people are in institutional quarantine.
