Eckovation, in association with the E&ICT Academy of IIT Guwahati, has launched a new post-graduate online certification course in artificial intelligence and machine learning for young professionals

There have been fast-paced advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and related technologies, which has led to Al applications being used in everyday life. Automated customer support systems, chatbots, and personalised shopping experience with product recommendations are common examples.

And with the technology rising worldwide, India is expected to see 1.5 lakh new job openings in AI, Machine Learning and related fields this year, and see an increase to up to 62 per cent as compared to the last year, says a recent tech report.

The average salary for positions in AI and related roles start at Rs 15 lakh per annum, with senior positions earning more than SOL per annum. However, the people who currently possess relevant skills in AI and who are fit for a job in the field, are quite less, which is why Eckovation in association with E&ICT Academy of llT Guwahati have launched a post-graduate online certification course in Al & ML. the eight-months course will be led by Dr Prithvijit Guha, faculty. The students will have to spend the final two weeks of the course at IIT Guwahati itself.

India has set a target to become a $5 trillion economy by 2025 and as per a report released at lAMAl India Digital Summit, India can achieve the target by using automation technologies such as, AI, natural language processing and machine learning that will drive increased efficiencies and new jobs resulting in economic growth in the next few years.

Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder, Axilor Ventures, and former executive vice chairman of Infosys, said emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning would impact the Indian economy like the $177 Billion IT services sector. The veteran added that the use of Al and ML in industries and every aspect of life would significantly increase the use of these technologies. It could form up to 40 per cent of the government’s estimated $1 trillion digital economy in the next 20-30 years.

“If I look back and see the introduction of digital computers in India, the best example is the IT services industry, which has today rose up to $177 billion and around four million people are employed through it. It had a significant impact and Al and ML will have a similar result too,” said Gopalakrishnan, the chairman of India Innovation Summit organised by industry body CII.

In order to meet the massive demand for Al & ML engineers in the market, through the course, the candidates will also have a unique access to the placement services offered by Eckovation, which aims to transform the entire career cycle of students as well as working professionals by offering them a conducive learning ecosystem and distinguished content leveraging on bleeding-edge technologies.
