Singapore reported 94 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, including 10 imported infections, taking the national tally to 56,666, the health ministry said.
The 10 coronavirus cases from overseas have been placed on Stay-Home Notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore, said the Ministry of Home (MOH) Affairs.
The four cases in the community are Singaporeans (citizens) or Permanent Residents (foreigners).
Among the 80 patients residing in dormitories for foreign workers, 58 are from Sungei Tengah Lodge, one of the biggest dormitories for foreign workers which reported a new COVID-19 cluster last week.
The vast majority of them were tested during quarantine to determine their status, or picked up through Rostered Routine Testing.
With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country reached 56,666.
"Following the detection of cases at Sungei Tengah Lodge, we had placed about 4,500 workers on quarantine, and tested about 3,000 of them so far.
We expect the number of cases from the dormitory to continue to be high in the coming days as we complete testing of the remaining quarantined workers, it said.
Meanwhile, three of the five imported cases reported on Thursday returned from India on August 14-15, said the MOH.
One of them came from China on August 16.
All of them have been placed on 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore, and tested.
The fifth case is a seaman, holding special pass, and had arrived here from India on August 8.
As he had been identified as a close contact of previous cases on the same vessel, he had been placed on quarantine and was tested to determine his status, it said.
With 168 cases of COVID-19 infection discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Thursday, 55,139 have fully recovered from the infection, it said.
There are currently 66 confirmed cases in hospitals, while 1,340 are isolated and cared for at community facilities for mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
