Yogi's claim on settlement of assets misleading: Congress

Friday, 20 November 2020 | PNS | Dehradun

Taking strong exception to the statement of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s claim that the issue of distribution of assets between Uttarakhand and UP has been settled, the Uttarakhand Congress has expressed surprise that the Uttarakhand CM maintained a stoic silence even as Yogi was speaking a lie. The spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni said that the fact is that the more than 13000 hectare land and more than 4000 buildings of Uttarakhand irrigation department are under the possession of UP. She said that UP’s irrigation department has flatly refused to hand over 697.05 hectare of land in Haridwar Kumbh Mela area. Dasauni said that Bhimgoda Barrage, Lohia head barrage of Banbasa and Ramganga Barrage are still under possession of UP. She added that a portion of Tehri dam too is under control of UP and the state is earning a revenue of about Rs 1000 Crore from it annually. Apart from it land and infrastructure of 11 departments are still under possession of UP. She added that UP owes Rs 700 Crore to the transport department of Uttarakhand.

The Congress spokesperson also expressed anger over the state government’s decision to transfer 20 Nali of land near Badrinath helipad to UP for construction of a tourist bungalow.
