Vehicle passes issued by the Twin City Police Commissionerate for lockdown due to coronavirus would remain valid for an indefinite period, informed Commissioner of Police (CP) Sudhanshu Sarangi on Monday.
The passes issued till March 29 would remain valid indefinitely till the entire situation relating to COVID-19 is resolved, he said.
Sarangi urged people not to approach officials and police stations to renew passes.
Notably, vehicle passes have been issued to persons engaged in essential services amid the lockdown.
However, he clarified that the ID cards and vehicle passes are not a privilege to be used for personal purposes.
In a tweet, Sarangi said the ID cards and vehicle passes issued to the persons to support their professional obligations cannot be used for personal works like buying vegetables and groceries during the lockdown.
“Please walk down to the nearby shop like every other individual. All are equal,” Sarangi said.
